Graphic Expression Means and their Role in Producing and Reading Geographical Maps

Abstract

This research highlights the essential role of graphic means of expression in producing and reading geographical maps. A descriptive approach of investigation was adopted in this study through reviewing the relevant literature. The results of this study reveal that the map represents an objective expressive and pictorial mean of the various geographical phenomena. The results also emphasize the essential role of graphic means of expression in facilitating and understanding the content of the map according to a set of diverse cartographic models of Sabratha region. This emphasizes the existence of a close direct relationship between the development of graphic means of expression and the production of modern digital geographical maps.
