Abstract

The land of Libya is rich with ancient artistic artifacts which represents an inspiration for researchers from different specialization including the different types of mosaic, especially the gravel mosaic, the marble and glass mosaic. Many areas have been addressed by the Libyan artistic mosaic such as the Libyan life style and rituals, economic and agriculture activities. This involves also the four reasons mosaic, the Nile mosaic, sports and hunting mosaic. The most important mosaic sites in Libya include the floor mosaic in the churches of Styrene. The cities Shahat, Sousse, Tokhrah, Ras Al-Hilal, and Palace of Libya with its museum of mosaic. In the Western region, mosaic is found in Dar Book Omair, Lebda, Tripoli and Sabratha. The results of this study reveal that Libya is the richest region in North Africa with mosaic types.
