The basic pension in Libya is a human and social legal system based on providing general social assistance individuals and families in order to help them overcome the difficulties and obstacles that impede the fulfillment of their necessary needs and desires. This will enable them to achieve an adequate standard of living in society. This represents a fundamental change from community charitable assistance to the public social assistance system funded and supervised by the state. The aim of this research is to shed light on the basic pension system in Libya and to show its vital and developmental importance in society as a system of general social assistance. This involves tracing its origin and establishment and explaining its developmental gradual historical progression, characteristics, and noble purposes. The vision of the future of the basic pension system depends mainly on its development to cope with the changes and developments of Libyan society. This will ensure the achievement of its noble social and humanitarian goals and objectives, and the principles of compassion, and social solidarity.
