An Evaluation of Final Examinations Questions according to Bloom's Classification of Cognitive Aims

This study investigated the extent to which the Final examinations questions covered the cognition aims at different levels according to the classification of "Bloom". The researcher analyzed 509 questions taken from 26 final examinations in the department of psychology. The analysis was based on these levels: "Remembering, understanding, applying, analyzing and synthesizing ". The results revealed that ‘remembering’ ranked first with 433 questions representing(85%) , understanding was second with 71questionsrepresenting(13.9%) whereas the application level ranked third with 3questions representing(0.6%). The analyzed examinations included only 1 question for analysis and evaluation and no questions for synthesis. The number of essay questions was 96 questions representing (19%) and the number of objective questions was 413 questions representing (81%).
