The Level of Community Awareness of Autism Spectrum Disorder and its Relationship to some Variables in the Sabratha Region
Abstract
The level of community awareness of autism spectrum disorder and its relationship to some variables:
The aim of this research is to reveal the level of community awareness of autism spectrum disorder, and to reveal the differences in the level of awareness according to the variable of gender, age, and the nature of the sample. A questionnaire prepared by the researcher was used to measure the level of awareness. The research concluded with the following results:
- Low level of community awareness of autism spectrum disorder in society in general.
- Difference in the degree of awareness according to the profession, as faculty members outperformed employees in the level of awareness of autism spectrum disorder.
- Equality between males and females in the level of awareness of autism spectrum disorder.
- The age group (41/60) years outperformed the age group (20/40) years.
In conclusion, the research recommends paying attention to preparing awareness programs about autism and paying attention to specialized seminars and conferences and broadcasting them via television and various media to increase community awareness.
