Abstract

This study is concerned with identifying the availability of technological devices and their use in secondary schools in ZAwia and to determine the extent of students’ benefit from these devices. Seven of state schools were chosen out of twenty as a sample; representing 33% of total state schools in Zawya. The sample of this study also involved 70 students in their final year; presenting 10% from the total of students. All schools headmasters also participated in this study. Data for this study was collected through two questionnaires with 40 questions: one for students and another one for headmasters. The findings of this study reveals that all the schools involved in this study have computer laboratories but most of them are not working. Also other technological devices such as projects, videos , data shows or language laboratories were not available. It was also found that most of the participant students prefer using both technology and textbooks. The majority of the students have their own personal computers and all of them have been using them perfectly. Most of them also have access to internet with personal accounts on social networks and more than 50% of them have personal private E-mails.
