Banking Awareness and its Impact on the Development of Banking Services

In the science of economics, the institutional school considers that the economical behavior of the economical units is controlled by behavioral and institutional factors; in addition to the pure economical factors. Therefore, the values, interests, tendencies and social and political organizations with the administrative structures with other components of the institutional system played a major role in interpreting the economical behavior. Accordingly, this study focuses on analyzing the impact of banking awareness as it represents a positive or negative intellectual status or position towards a particular issue-banking services. This study attempted to explore the interactive impact between awareness and the quality of banking services on developing the services provided by Aljomhouria Bank. This study concludes that there is clear awareness about the importance of the services provided by the banking system, in general, and Aljomhouria bank, in particular. This study also reveals that the customers tend to consider the banks as institutions for saving money not as mediating institutions between savers and investors. It has been also revealed that there is a preference towards foreign banks as reported by (58%) of the participants. Regarding the quality of the banking services and through the using the criteria of measuring the quality of services (speed, safety, reliability , confidentiality) , the responses of the sample indicated that the banks did not pass any criterion.
