Psychological Pressures Encountered by Final Secondary School Students

This analytical study investigates the psychological pressures that face secondary school students in Surman and to find out whether there are significant differences in these pressures according to the variables of gender and scientific specialization. This study adopted the descriptive analytical approach and the sample consisted of 368 students. The questionnaire was used as a tool for data collection. The results revealed that life events represented the most influential cause of the pressures as it ranked first with arithmetic mean (17.7609) and examinations pressures ranked second with an arithmetic mean (17.6793) whereas parents’ pressures ranked third with an arithmetic mean (17.5707). The pressures result from school ranked last with an arithmetic mean (17.1359). The results also revealed the existence of a significant correctional relationship between gender (male more than femal) and specialization (scientific more than literary) with the psychological pressures faced by secondary school students in Sourman.
