The aim of this study is to investigate the ‘pause’ as an audio phenomenon and its effect on the lexicon, semantic, unit as its ending can be either pure or defective and it can be attached to a bound morpheme which can affect the case of the lexicon during the pause. The descriptive analytical approach was used in analyzing ‘pause’ as an audio phenomenon and its impact on lexicon syllable distribution before and after the pause through using examples extracted from the Holy Quran. The paper will define ‘pause’ idiomatically and linguistically and then outline the types of pauses in terms of the nominative, accusative and genitive cases that it can stand on. This will be followed by a discussion of the impact of these types of pause on syllable distribution. The results of the study revealed that pause on quiescence is very strong and that the pause on the lexicon ending can be with the Al-roum or with Al-Eshmam. The types of pause in the Holy Quran are presented with some examples.
