Abstract

This research concerns with investigating the Ghoraba Hospital، an important historical building in the Old City of Tripoli، which was established during the last period of Ottoman ruling of the city. The importance of studying this building is due to its being the only remaining model of health buildings of this period. It is also due to its unique distinctive architecture among the other buildings in the city. This research presents a detailed architecture description using the archaeological and architecture descriptive style for all the parts of the building in order to spot light on the architecture engineering school upon which this building was established. Hence، the research generally aims to study an architecture design which has been neglected by other researchers due to its unclear functional sides. These functions have been changed according to the services offered by this building to the extent that the focus on its architecture design as hospital remains not clear for most of the researchers in this field.
