This research investigates the social components of Libyan society in terms of the population structure and traces the social history and origin of the Libyan tribes. All Libyans are Muslims and speak Arabic with a minority who speak tribal languages such as Tuareg and Barber. However, the researcher noticed that there are weak social relationships between the Libyans with an increasing interest in regionalism and racism. Therefore, this study was conducted by adopting the historical approach and reviewing the outstanding historical and social references written about the social and ethnic structure of Libya. The historical scope of this study is limited to the time of immigration of Bani-Hilal and Bani-Saleem to Libya and the scope of population is limited to the Libyans. The findings of this revealed that the kinship tie played a major role in the development of social relationships in the Libyan society and that these relations are of moral nature rather than a legal one.
